Becoming British Research & Development

In 2022 I was the Sheffield Theatres’ residency artist. Inspired by the artworks of the Becoming British exhibition I curated for the Migration Matter Festival in June 2022, I developed the idea into a performance piece, working with 5 performers, a dramaturg and sound designer. We are currently fundraising for its presentation in 2024.

Esen

Esen (autumn in Bulgarian) is my latest project. I am exploring traditional Bulgarian cooking, ideas around food preservation and wintering in the context of slowing down and opening up more spaces to (re)connect with family, roots, the land and nature.

The project’s first outing was a gentle encounter during The People’s Palace of Possibilities in Rotherham in September 2023 and I look forward to developing it further. If you are intrigued/interested, give me a shout.

Blurring the Edges

This is a multi-disciplinary look at the idea of “social frontiers” (sharp differences in the demographic composition of adjacent communities). The project includes a performance and/or a static piece of installation art (both available to book - enquire here).

The work is the result of a collaboration between Professor Gwilym Pryce and 'Life at the Frontier' researchers at the University of Sheffield, myself & Rotherham based visual artist Uzma Rani.

Becoming [...]

This is a residential creative project that has taken place in 4 countries across Europe (Czech Republic, Romania, Germany & Britain). In each location it interrogated local national identity dynamics and centered the voices of local 1st generation migrants. You can read more about each iteration through the links below.
